Re: Flooding of Pescadero Road where it
intersects with Butano Creek
Dear
Herb,
This letter is meant as a follow-up to PMAC regarding the Coastside Watershed
Posse’s efforts to reduce the annual flooding of Pescadero Road at Butano
Creek. As mentioned in our enclosed
letter of November 2, 2001 to CDF Chief
Steve Wert, Bill Cook, James Schweickert and Ron Schafer, the Coastside Watershed Posse will provide
funding and implement a long-term vegetation management, beaver dam management,
and beaver removal program starting in spring 2002 in perpetuity. These efforts are designed to facilitate a re-focus of the Butano low
point near the bridge. I have also
enclosed a copy of the Coastside Watershed Posse’s MOU and CRMP for PMAC
consideration and any private property owners that are interested in becoming
Coastside Watershed Posse volunteer members.
The Coastside Watershed Posse Fire Safe Council in
2002 will fund and implement a
demonstration wildland/urban interface (WUI) FireAlert System project designed
to protect the SF Peninsula coastal watershed.
I’ve enclosed a brief one page
overview of the WUI FireAlert System. A
twenty minute visit to www.saveourbay.org will provide a complete overview of
the Posse’s Watershed Vision,
Coastside Fire Safe Council MOU, State Fire Plan, How to Protect Your Home, FireAlert System etc.
Andrea, John and I want to wish all the members of
PMAC a healthy, peaceful and good will to all New Year.
Sincerely,
Oscar Braun
